Healthy environment is vital in provision of services that benefit the human population in terms of economic and social value. Environmental sustainability is an increasingly prevalent topic of discussion that triggers a high level of interest in the academia. Here in the study we aimed at understanding students’ knowledge and awareness of environmental sustainability, motivations and intentions regarding eco-activism and what inhibits in their way? We used quantitative methods to gauge the eco-activism motivation in students from different universities and how they perceive environmental sustainability concept. Findings of this paper, underline that environmental sustainability and eco-activism wasn’t common term to students but they showed interest in learning more about it. Students were found unaware about their schools’ environmental sustainability efforts and any direct students’ involvement in eco-activism. Mostly agreed that their individual action might affect change in environmental protection, economic and social development. Students expressed willingness in becoming eco-activist and majority found “awareness” as their motivation and “time” discourages them. The need of improvement is required in contemporary educational curriculum and programs regarding environmental sustainability to escalate its significance and issues among students as environmental health and sustainability maintenance is a prime future challenge.
