Abstract

This study focuses on Human Resource (HR) managers since they act as a bridge between top management and employees. Although there is an abundance of studies that analyze the factors affecting information behavior, studies on factors affecting managers’ information behavior are limited. In addition, there is a lack of research focusing on EI as a factor affecting information behavior even though factors such as gender, age, education level, personality, economic status, as well as social and cultural rights have been commonly examined. Therefore, this study aims to determine if EI has an impact on the information sources consulted, used, and shared by HR managers in Turkey. The research demonstrates that EI is indeed a factor that affects HR managers’ information behavior. HR managers would benefit by increasing their awareness of how emotion and information tightly align when fulfilling their duties and making HR-related decisions. Additionally, this research posits the notion that the correlation between HR managers with high EI and the vision of having an effective information flow to gain competitive advantage in today’s changing work environment.
